Where in Argentina will I work?

Tiu Mayu nature reserve is the only primate centre in Argentina and the only centre in the world that works with black howler monkeys. The sanctuary has been recognized by the Jane Goodall Institute and is the Argentine representative of the Great Ape Project. The closest city is La Cumbre, a beautiful mountain settlement located 11 km away. There are mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and forests to explore in the Tiu Mayu Nature Reserve. The city of Córdoba is about 70 km to the south. This city can be easily reached by bus.

Arrival airport

If you are going to work on this project, you should arrive at the Córdoba International Airport (COR) where a member of our staff will be waiting to receive you.

Lodging and Meals

You will share accommodation with other volunteers and interns during your stay at the animal sanctuary. It’s a great way to get to know your colleagues better, make friends, share experiences and explore the surroundings together. You will normally share a room in a rustic stone bungalow. The accommodation is safe, clean, basic and comfortable. Three meals a day are included.

Leisure

In addition to contributing to a project with real impact, you will have the opportunity to explore Argentina. La Cumbre is the perfect place to start. You can take a horseback ride or go trekking on mountain paths that will take your breath away. During your free days, you can go to Córdoba. A city of two million inhabitants with five universities. This makes Córdoba the perfect city for youth. You can visit the Evita Museum of Arts or the Teatro del Libertador General San Martín, and visit the Flea Market in Güemes. There may be other volunteers at the same time as you. You can choose whether to explore alone or with a group of friends.
