Human Rights

image
Gain work experience and help raise awareness of human rights issues in disadvantaged communities.
You will work with our project coordinator and local organizations to inform people about their rights. These internships will add great value to your CV and will give you an edge for your job interviews. In Argentina, people deal with problems such as domestic violence, gender inequality and homelessness daily. Many of them are even unaware that they are victims or perpetrators of these abuses. The Mondify Human Rights Office in Córdoba seeks to provide solutions with information campaigns and workshops, in addition to working directly with the beneficiaries to support their access to their basic rights.
This project is perfect if you are interested in human rights and in helping those who need it. It is an opportunity for you to gain work experience while fulfilling your humanitarian commitment to others. The best thing is that you don’t need to have experience, since you will work with experts in our Human Rights Office, who will teach you everything you need to know for this project. These internships in Argentina take place throughout the year, so you can join whenever you want. If you want to learn more and make a bigger impact in the communities where you’ll work, we recommend staying as long as you can. The experience you can gain in human rights in Argentina is worth it.

Your Tasks

During your stay as a Human Rights intern in Argentina, you will work on:

– Supplying food, kitchen products, clothes and school supplies to people who are homeless, families in need, and women in vulnerable situations.
– Sharing time with children and adolescents, and teaching them about their rights; children and adolescents have the right to play, smile, study, and be heard.
– Helping minority groups, the elderly, and people with mental health problems and various disabilities, to manage medical appointments, do paperwork, and take part in campaigns to be heard.
– Sharing spaces with people in vulnerable situations, strengthening their capacity, self-esteem and social relationships, and building a lasting social support network. Allowing them to feel heard, understood and valued. Offering a space free of stigma, prejudice and paternalism.
– The fight for rights never stops. Volunteers and interns will also learn about the Argentina dictatorship period, visit illegal detention centres and follow up on the work of different NGOs to keep the memory alive.

Where in Argentina will I work?

Your project will be carried out in the city of Córdoba, the second-largest city in Argentina. This young and dynamic city is one of the friendliest in the country. During your stay, you will work in our human rights office, sharing an office with local staff and other colleagues. The office is fully funded and run by Mondify, so we rely on our interns to keep things running. You will also have to work outside the office, in community centres and partner organizations.

Arrival airport

If you are going to work on this project, you should arrive at Cordoba International Airport (COR) where a member of our staff will be waiting to receive you.

Food and accommodation

You will stay with a host family in Córdoba. They will welcome you into their home and will be happy to share their customs and learn about your culture. We believe that this is the best way to immerse yourself in the Argentine lifestyle and have a truly unique experience. Your room will be simple, but comfortable, clean and safe. The cost of the program includes three meals a day.

Leisure

Argentina is a vibrant South American country full of colours and cultural heritage. As well as contributing to worthwhile projects, travelling to Argentina with us means you’ll be able to explore this fascinating country. Spend the afternoon enjoying a coffee in Plaza San Martín, with its street artists and its iconic statue of General José de San Martín. You can take a weekend trip to the mountains. The surrounding nature is impressive and a horseback ride through the nature trails is also worthwhile. There are cultural experiences, such as the Evita Superior Museum of Fine Arts or the Teatro del Libertador General San Martín. You can also learn about the country’s history at local museums and visit the birthplace of Che Guevara. There are probably other volunteers in Argentina, so you can explore on your own or with a group of volunteers from different projects.
