This unique Canine and Equine Therapy Volunteer Program in Argentina offers just that. You’ll gain hands-on experience working with both dogs and horses in a therapeutic setting, helping individuals with a range of physical and mental health conditions improve their mobility, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life.
What makes this project special is the hands-on experience you’ll gain in a dynamic radio environment. You’ll work directly with experienced journalists, contributing to live discussions, conducting interviews, and exploring current affairs. The station focuses heavily on human rights and political issues, offering you a chance to engage with significant topics and make an impact through your work.
This program stands out because it offers a dual-therapy approach, allowing you to work in two distinct placements. You’ll spend part of your week assisting with canine therapy, where specially trained dogs help patients improve emotional and physical health. On other days, you’ll work at an equine therapy center, helping patients during therapeutic riding sessions with horses. The blend of both therapies offers an enriching experience and the opportunity to learn about different methods of animal-assisted rehabilitation.
This project is perfect for those studying psychology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or veterinary medicine. Your Tasks
As a volunteer, you will:
- Assist in therapy sessions with dogs, providing support to patients as they interact with the animals.
- Help during therapeutic riding lessons with horses, ensuring patients feel safe and supported.
- Take care of the dogs and horses, contributing to their well-being and the smooth running of the therapy sessions.
- Learn about the theory behind both canine and equine therapy, understanding how these practices benefit patients both physically and emotionally.

Where in Argentina will I work?
Located in Córdoba, a vibrant city known for its natural beauty and lively cultural scene, your volunteering experience will be enriched by the local atmosphere. Córdoba is Argentina’s second-largest city, offering a dynamic mix of indigenous, Italian, Spanish, and European influences. When you’re not volunteering, you can explore the city’s colorful street art and lively festivities, adding to your memorable experience.
Food and accommodation
You will stay with a host family in Córdoba. They will welcome you into their home and will be happy to share their customs and learn about your culture. We believe that this is the best way to immerse yourself in the Argentine lifestyle and have a truly unique experience. Your room will be simple, but comfortable, clean and safe. The cost of the program includes three meals a day.
Leisure
Argentina is a vibrant South American country full of colours and cultural heritage. As well as contributing to worthwhile projects, travelling to Argentina with us means you’ll be able to explore this fascinating country. Spend the afternoon enjoying a coffee in Plaza San Martín, with its street artists and its iconic statue of General José de San Martín. You can take a weekend trip to the mountains. The surrounding nature is impressive and a horseback ride through the nature trails is also worthwhile. There are cultural experiences, such as the Evita Superior Museum of Fine Arts or the Teatro del Libertador General San Martín. You can also learn about the country’s history at local museums and visit the birthplace of Che Guevara. There are probably other volunteers in Argentina, so you can explore on your own or with a group of volunteers from different projects.
Spanish language lessons
Fluency in Spanish is not a prerequisite for participating in Mondify’s programs in Córdoba, Argentina. However, certain projects may have limitations for volunteers with limited language proficiency. Therefore, Mondify strongly recommends that volunteers take advantage of the affordable Spanish courses offered exclusively to program participants. Previous volunteers have found that these classes significantly enhance day-to-day volunteer work and facilitate communication with local communities. Taught by professional Spanish instructors and tailored to each individual’s specific needs, the classes vary in duration and intensity. For instance, the Dynamic Spanish Immersion Course includes 25 group classes per week, totaling 3 hours and 45 minutes daily, while the Rapid Language Mastery Program offers 37 group classes per week, with 5 hours and 30 minutes of daily instruction. These lessons are arranged with your Mondify Program Manager prior to departure.
